Alcohol Policy at The Historic Dallas Jail

Everything you need to know for your event

Planning your bar service is one of those details that can feel a little confusing—but we like to keep things simple, clear, and stress-free at The Historic Dallas Jail.

Here’s exactly how alcohol service works at our venue 👇

What You Can Serve

At The Historic Dallas Jail, you’re welcome to serve:

  • Beer

  • Wine

  • Seltzers

This allows you to offer a full bar experience for your guests while keeping things easy to manage and enjoyable for everyone.

What We Don’t Allow

We do not allow:

  • Liquor (spirits)

  • Fortified wines

This policy helps us maintain a safe, controlled environment for all events while still giving you plenty of flexibility in what you serve.

Bartender Requirements

To serve alcohol at your event, you’ll need to hire a licensed and insured bartender.

You have two options:

  • Choose from our list of recommended bartenders

  • Use a bartender provided through your catering company

  • Bar service may be open for up to five hours, with last call taking place 30 minutes before your scheduled event end time.

We also require a Certificate of Insurance (COI) from your bartender or bar service vendor.

If you choose someone from our recommended vendor list—no extra work needed—we already have their COI on file. If you bring in a vendor outside of our list, they will need to provide this documentation in advance.

Why We Structure It This Way

Our goal is always the same:
to create a seamless, enjoyable experience for you and your guests.

By keeping alcohol service straightforward and working with experienced, licensed professionals, we’re able to:

  • Keep your event running smoothly

  • Ensure guest safety

  • Take pressure off you and your family

Planning Your Bar Service
